Deadzone 2.0 scenery mega build

Quite recently I had an extremely large box full of stuff arrive from mantic. Amongst all the models was an absolute boatload of their new industrial scenery terrain.

I have used pretty much all of it to make some ace looking buildings and other bits and pieces.

These are currently awaiting a bit of primer amongst a few other bits of sci fi scenery.
After I get a layer of primer down next on the agenda will be deciding a paint scheme. My current  line of thinking is maybe a dark greyish purple effect with lots of metals and bits of rust here and there.

Right, now the pre amble is done with its on to the pictures!

First up we have a 3 story building with a gantry and pipes down the side amd some lamps on the back.

I wanted this one to look like it was venting noxious gases from the pies either side so I imagine it to be some sort of foundry. In terms of gameplay who doesnt love high sniping points?

From this angle you can see trhough the vent from the platform giving different lines of sight for firing through.
Not quite sure what this bit is. The long bits that I have used as stilts I couldnt really find a purpose for and still have a lot left over. I will probably use this ontop of other buildings in a modular manner to add a bit of variety.
This is supposede to be a storage area for barrels, crates and such. Another one of those leftover bits and pieces jobbies.
Pipe mania! I like these bits as you can have them stuck next to the sides of buildings and this again is a lovely modular feature of the DZ terrain.

A lot of bits of the pipe go into the ground which I like to think connects to an underground network of buildings and pipes.
Two rather similar looking barricades. I would imagine these to be manned by soldiers guarding a checkpoint or lookout.
Simple two story tower with gantry
 Damaged pipe network.
Another little cubed building. Can't get enough of those. The spare pipe endings make for great featueres to stick on some of the blank panels.
This is supposed to be an exposed vent shaft which also got used for a few tests when I first got my airbrush.
The Pièce de Résistance here is a 3x3 cubed  building with as small section on top. I really wanted to make a big building, so I did!
I also went all out with the conveyor sections making  them into two large pieces. I would say having a long length of the conveyor is more authentic because nobody is using a conveyor belt for a couple of meters right?

Anyway coupled with the bits that link to the conveyor I can use these to join lower buildings to higher ones.

The Undead hordes shamble forth

The undead have arisen from their graves as my new army for Kings of War is starting to take shape.

With this army I wanted to go for your classic vampire, skeleton and ghost combo that gives off the Transylvania vibe. So no mummies and Pharaohs as they didn't fit the theme I have in mind. Also I had to rule out zombies as I painted hundreds for my Zombicide board games and the thought of painting another makes me feel a bit queasy(though I am sure I will feel the same way about skeletons shortly). No shooting either as not only do I think the options for this in the undead list are pants but I wanted an all melee force just to keep things different from my Goblins that have a lot of firepower.

That leaves me with lots of skellies, wights and wraiths as my main army core along with some obligatory soul reaver cav and a dragon, because who doesn't like dragons.

First up we have the wights. These are mantics wight models and I went with a ghostly paint job for these chaps.

Here we have the necromancer from the mortis engine that I will be using to represent soul reaver cav. He has a fade from black at the top of his cloak down to Incubi darkness at the bottom. Still a work in progress.
Next some spirits for use as wraiths.

And here we have my vampire lord on undead dragon.
The dragon is a reaper bones model that has been slightly re-posed and he is perched on top of a sepulchur from the GW garden of Morr scenery set. This is not a great picture unfortunatley!
This was my first experiment with blending going from the nihilak oxide to the incubi darkness on the cloak of the vampire lord. It was quite a bit of effort but I am pretty pleased with how it came out

These two chaps are a couple of examples from about 40 skellies that have been recently painted.

They are two different colour / wash bases and I went for a spectral look for the face to represent the fact that they have been freshly re animated.
There is a lot of them ready to be based and I think I will mix and match the two different kinds for a bit of variation. Also the banner still needs to be finished,

So that is it for now, next up to the painting table will be finishing the mortis engine and some progress on the bases.

Welcome to my new Blog

Hello there and welcome to my new Blog.

This blog will be focusing on my hobby activities, namely kings of war and other board/miniature games. Hopefully posting my progress will help keep my motivation up and help me whittle away at the massive backlog of models currently amassed in the dining room.

Enough of the pre amble , lets get stuck into what is currently going on.

First of all we have an overview of the omni shambles that is my dining hobby room!

I have recently got a rather tasty airbrush setup in the form of a badger renegade krome and a spray booth. I have been playing around with this and it is an impressive bit of kit.

Also in the photo we can see large portions of a deadzone lockdown kickstarter pledge some bases for trees and bases for my KOW undead army and the new imperial knight renegade game from GW that I am currently magnetising for some big stompy robot goodness. I don't play 40k but the knight models and a nice quick game included was too tempting.

There is also some of the new mantic wights in the shot too that will be getting a very ghostly paint job.

Currently on the painting table we have:

Here we have a GW mortis engine model that is roughly 60% complete
Some ebay skellies that will be multibased
Some GW spirit hosts for use as wraiths in KOW and a rider for my undead vampire lord on dragon.

More info on the Undead KOW army in the future and some posts on my Deadzone Scenery and Veermyn faction to come as well.
